She brings years of experience, having previously served on the board where she focused on enhancing academic standards, ensuring transparency, and prioritizing student safety. Committed to community engagement, McComas aims to continue her work to create a thriving educational environment that prepares students for future success while respecting the principles and values of her constituents.

I was privileged to be chosen to open two new high schools (1997 and 2004).

As Science Department Chair, I was responsible at that time for choosing curriculum and ordering all science materials as well as maintaining the budget needed for our high schools with populations of 3000+.    

 

College Adjunct Instructor – California State University Long Beach 2007-2013

Besides college teaching, I was a Secondary Student Teacher Supervisor as well as the Toyota ISSI Grant Coordinator for Elementary Educators.

Experience

 

Worcester County Board of Education Member  2016-2024

*Continued Academic Excellence in our MSAT and state testing, Worcester County consistently ranks among the top counties in the state.

*Named one of the safest school districts by MDSS. As a member of the recent Safety Task Force, the data collected reinforced those statistics.

*Although we are now in negotiations to build a new Buckingham Elementary School, we were thrilled to be able to see the completion of our new Showell Elementary School as well as the long awaited addition to Stephen Decatur Middle School.
